35. Drew Mansion Restoration

The Bourre Construction Group will be restoring the Drew Mansion back to its original state. Built in 1909 for Dr. Horace Drew, the grandson of the Jacksonville patriarch founded what became stationary printing company H. & W.B. Drew Co., the building was on the Jacksonville Historical Society’s list of most endangered properties. It’s the last of what was an entire block of mansions across the street from Klutho Park, built following the Great Fire of 1901. The restoration is expected to cost $800,000.

36. 348 East Third Street

Take 2 LLC is in the process of renovating a mixed use building at the intersection of 3rd & Walnut. The long abandoned 7,945-square-feet building was built in 1919. The second floor of 348 East 3rd Street has been converted into three apartments. The exterior of the building will be rehabilitated next as the budget allows. When complete, the first floor will be a mix of commercial space and additional apartment units.

37. Dozier Apartments

Construction is coming to an end on a 14-unit affordable housing apartment complex at 122 West 8th Street. The multi-family infill project is being developed by Operation New Hope.

38. 1101 North Main Street

Plans are in the works to transform the vacant structure into a venue that will incorporate food, drinks and entertainment. As a part of the process, fashion designer and Jacksonville native Alyssa Key, the building’s owner has obtained a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA-16-913) to add a mural, canopies, window alternation and replacement, storefront addition and exterior door replacement to the building.

39. Crispy’s - 1735 North Main Street

Although exterior work has not started, owner John Crispens continues to progress on the interior conversion of 1735 N. Main St. into an Italian-themed restaurant and bar, art gallery and dry cleaning service. Originally, the Akra Bros. department store, the 5,850-square-foot space will feature a 150-seat restaurant that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

40. Woolworth’s Building

Petra Managment is in the process of restoring the former Woolworth’s Building on Main Street, between 7th and 8th Streets. Plans call for creating six retail bays on the ground floor and residential units upstairs.

41. Jacksonville School of the Arts

The transformation of multiple structures in the Springfield Warehouse District into an arts district anchored by the Jacksonville School of the Arts continues. Located at the intersection of 14th and Market Streets, the Cristy Frazier project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2017.

42. Hogans Creek Greenway

Construction is underway on a multi-use path paralleling Hogans Creek between Market and Pearl Streets. Long term plans for the City of Jacksonville Parks design-build project could include connections to the S-Line Urban Greenway and Northbank Riverwalk.

43. Salon Monet

A beauty salon and boutique owned by Matthew and AnTia Henderson will be opening soon at 1602 North Main Street (6th & Main). Their services will include hair care, hair styling, skin care, beauty makeovers, waxing and nails. In addition, they plan to provide the latest, trendiest, most fashionable jewelry and attires.

44. Vystar Credit Union

VyStar, is the largest credit union headquartered in Northeast Florida, is opening a new location in the Goffin Building at 7th and Main Streets.

45. Pediatric Associates

Pediatric Associates will be opening a new medica office at 1714 North Main Street.

46. Main Street Hogans Creek Bridge

The FDOT is in the process of replacing a detrioriated box culvert on Main Street over Hogans Creek.

47. C.B. Dailey Villas (Eastside)

Construction appears to have stalled on a 24-unit apartment building near the intersection of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard and 1st Street. The 3-story structure is being developed by Wealth Watchers, Inc., a Jacksonville-based non-profit.
