42. Hyperion Brewing Company

Alexandra McKeown and Troy Orton are in the process of opening the Hyperion Brewing Company at 1740/1744 Main Street. Plans for the 5,545 square foot space call for the construction of a small production facility that will provide artisan beers sold through an on-site brewpub. While Hyperion will primarily serve their beer in the brewpub, plans also include a limited distribution of product within the Jacksonville market. Hyperion plans to open in May 2017.

43. Dozier Apartments

Construction is coming to an end on a 14-unit affordable housing apartment complex at 122 West 8th Street. The multi-family infill project is being developed by Operation New Hope.

44. 1101 North Main Street

Construction is underway on plans to transform 1st & Main into a venue that will incorporate food, drinks and entertainment. As a part of the process, fashion designer and Jacksonville native Alyssa Key, the building’s owner has obtained a Certificate of Appropriateness (COA-16-913) to add a mural, canopies, window alternation and replacement, storefront addition and exterior door replacement to the building.

45. Crispy’s - 1735 North Main Street

Although exterior work has not started, owner John Crispens continues to progress on the interior conversion of 1735 N. Main St. into an Italian-themed restaurant and bar, art gallery and dry cleaning service. Originally, the Akra Bros. department store, the 5,850-square-foot space will feature a 150-seat restaurant that will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

46. The Cookbook Restaurant

Springfield resident Brandon Byers plans to open The Cookbook Restaurant at 1827 N. Pearl St. A recent Times-Union article states the restaurant will offer everything from burgers and fries to American soul food including shrimp and grits, and chicken and waffles. Interior improvements being made to the space include a dining room, lounge area and bar as well as a small stage for live entertainment.

47. Pediatric Associates

Pediatric Associates will be opening a new medical office at 1714 North Main Street.

48. Main & Sixth Brewing Company

Son/daughter combo Dennis Espinosa and Cindy Lasky are in the process of opening the Main and Six Brewing Company at 1636 Main Street. The 3,488 square foot brewery will include the sale and service of beer, wine, cider and mead for on-site consumption within the building, as well as, the sale and service of beer, wine, cider and mead for off-site consumption and distribution.

49. Social Grounds Coffee Company

Social Grounds plans to open a new coffeehouse at 1712 Main Street by April 2017.

50. C.B. Dailey Villas (Eastside)

Construction continues on a 24-unit apartment building near the intersection of A. Philip Randolph Boulevard and 1st Street. The 3-story structure is being developed by Wealth Watchers, Inc., a Jacksonville-based non-profit.

51. Community, A Walgreens Pharmacy

Community, A Walgreens Pharmacy intends to open at 1801 N. Main Street. The 1,452 specialty pharmacy at 8th & Main will offer disease management consultation and medical and clinical adherence; lead the industry in dispensing generic prescriptions to provide savings; and work with improving medicine adherence, especially with patients who have complex, high-cost regimens. It will also include a community room for private one-on-one meetings with patients and classes for staff development.

The Block Skate Supply will be moving from Park Street in Brooklyn to 1717 North Main Street soon. The Block Skate Supply is a skate shop servicing the metro Jacksonville area, with roots in skateboarding.
