The Barrique Kitchen & Wine Bar plans to open in spring 2017 at 3563 St. Johns Avenue. The 5,000 square foot, 100-seat restaurant and wine bar will include a theme that has been described as intimate with “Old European charm.” The New York-based concept’s interior decor will be dominated by reclaimed wood, brick and stucco.

Magic Sweet House is in the process of opening an Avondale location at 3578 St. Johns Avenue. Magic sweet house is Jacksonville’s first establishment serving Thai ice cream rolls, Hong Kong waffles, Japanese crepes and Taiwan light bulb drink.

26. Southern Roots Filling Station
Southern Roots Filling Station at 1275 King Street is expanding into a 1,798 square foot adjacent space at 1273 King Street. Moducomm Construction is the contractor for this interior demolition and renovation design-build project.

27. Bearded Buffalo Brewing Company
Construction continues on Scott McAlister’s Bearded Buffalo Brewing Company at 1012-1014 King St. The facility, which will be both a taproom, pilot batch brewing facility and a 24-seat restaurant, is looking to open in the first quarter of 2017.

28. Crane Ramen
Popular Gainesville restaurant Crane Ramen plans to open at 1029 Park Street in Five Points. According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, Crane Ramen’s menu includes several varieties of ramen, including market veggie miso, spicy pulled pork paitan ramen, pork-bone broth ramen and a cold ramen tossed with vegetables in a ginger dressing. Other choices include panfried pork dumplings, pork belly steamed buns and wok-fried chicken thighs.

29. Delgado Building
Longtime local automobile dealer Mike Shad recently acquired the historic Delgado Building at Oak and Barrs streets. Shad plans for the property include renovating five upper floor apartment units and leasing the first floor to a restaurateur. A second ground floor retail space will be used to sell Pedego Electric Bikes, which can be pedaled manually and also be powered electrically.

30. River & Post Restaurant and Rooftop Bar
Construction continues on the River & Post Restaurant and Rooftop Bar at the Summit Tower at 1000 Riverside Avenue. The $1 million project includes a ground floor 233-seat restaurant with outdoor seating and a rooftop bar with 154 seats. With plans to open in summer 2017, the restaurant’s menu will feature Southern American cuisine with a focus on seafood and steaks.

32. Larry’s Giant Subs - R Wood Fire Pizza
Larry Raikes, the owner of Jacksonville-based chain Larry’s Giant Subs, plans to open a new dining concept at 1050 Edgewood Avenue South. Here, Raikes intends to open a 125-seat restaurant that is tentatively being called Larry’s Giant Subs - R Wood Fire Pizza. Raikes envisions the 3,500-square-foot restaurant featuring a full bar with local craft beers, wood-fired stone pizza ovens, grilled Philadelphia cheese steaks, Wisconsin cheese curds, beignets and other specialties. Pending approvals, Larry’s Giant Subs - R Wood Fired Pizza is anticipated to open in September 2017.
33. J&W Discount
Recently acquired by Mike Danhour, Murray Hill’s J&W Discount Store is currently closed for renovations and upgrades. Renovations include an investment of $100,000 on paint and flooring. The 12,000-square-foot store is located on Post Street, just west of Edgewood Avenue South.

36. Town Beer Company
Alex and Priya Moldovan plan to open the Town Beer Company at 1176 Edgewood Avene in Murray Hill. The Town Beer Company is envisioned to be a bar that sells local and Florida brews on tap and by the can or bottle, with a goal of supporting local beer and reducing craft beer’s carbon footprint. Plans indicate the 1,200 square foot space with 30 seats, an office, restroom and walk-in cooler. Plans call for a spring 2017 opening.

40. The Loop Pizza Grill
The Loop Pizza Grill is in the process of constructing a new 3,100 square foot restaurant next to Sadler Point Marina at 4619 Roosevelt Boulevard. The 116-seat restaurant will be a replace for the Loop’s former St. Johns Village location in Avondale. It’s expected to open in spring 2017.
