2. Hogan Street

A little under one mile in length, Hogan Street through the heart of the historic Downtown Northbank will be retrofitted to include a trail segment under the JTA Skyway. This truly multimodal corridor will directly connect the Northbank Riverwalk with the Hogans Creek Greenway in Springfield. Design efforts should be underway next month and construction is anticipated to begin in early 2022.

4. S-Line Connector

When the 4.8-mile S-Line Urban Greenway trail was constructed over a decade ago, the project included a 1.5 mile gap between its north and south segments. This gap runs from Boulevard near UF Health Jacksonville in Springfield to East 21st Street in Brentwood. Anticipated to be under design next month and under construction in early 2022, the S-Line Connector trail will provide continuous trail connectivity from Gateway Town Center area in Norwood on the north, to the Northbank Riverwalk in Downtown.

Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing Park

The project, which will cost between $2 and $3 million, will highlight the Johnson brothers and their contributions in the area. The brothers wrote and composed the iconic song, “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” in that home. That song has become known as the Black national anthem.

Design and engineering plans for the park are underway and are expected to be complete by summer 2021. Construction on the park is expected to be finished by fall 2022.
