MDC and LISC Jacksonville are partnering to host a convening March 10th-12th at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church about community resilience in the face of development, climate, and other pressures. Session topics include Southern data, heirs’ property, community organizing, food access, family supports, disaster recovery, storytelling, and more.

We are very excited to bring these conversations to life with the opening of State of the South’s first-ever art exhibit at Yellow House on the evening of March 10, featuring a mix of new and existing works by 14 local artists. Our closing session about the importance of art and storytelling to narrative change in the South will feature MDC’s Kamilah Pickett in conversation with The Black Jacksonville Collective, sharing about their powerful work on “Front Porch Histories,” using oral histories to map and share Jacksonville’s Black history. Join us!

Admission is sliding scale, with free tiers and scholarships available. Thank you to our sponsors: LISC Jacksonville, Blue Zones Project Jacksonville, Allegany Franciscan Ministries, and Target Foundation.
Register here to claim your spot - we hope to see you in March!
