In May 2016, City Councilman Bill Gulliford proposed banning skateboarding in downtown Jacksonville and was met with strong opposition.

As a result of the community pushback, Councilman Gulliford decided to meet with local skateboard advocates with the goal of hammering out a deal that would satisfy all impacted parties. This deal included a plan to construct a new skatepark to serve the downtown area and a list of potential sites for the public to consider.

With this in mind, Able Skate Mag has a survey out seeking input on the preferred location for a new skate park in the urban core.
