Overview

I-10 from I-295 to I-95 is being widened to improve traffic flow, safety and increase capacity. When complete, I-10 will feature up to ten lanes between I-295 and I-95. Traffic volume along I-10 is expected to increase significantly over the next two decades and widening the road will alleviate traffic issues in years ahead. Temporary lane closures and nighttime detours will take place throughout the duration of the project; however these will occur in off-peak times. Every effort will be made to minimize the impact to traffic flow in the construction zone. The project is expected to last about five years, weather and schedule permitting. The long duration is, in part, because of the many bridges that will need to be widened, a highly constrained work area and because the project duration also includes the design phase.

Also, FDOT will host a construction open house Thursday, February 4 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to share information and answer questions regarding the I-10 widening project. Project staff will be available online at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6642904420848585999 or by phone at (415) 655-0053 using access code 864-370-935. Citizens who are unable to participate virtually or by phone may attend the open house in person at the FDOT Urban Office Training Center located at 2198 Edison Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204.
