Municipal Docks and Terminal Company

JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal lies just northwest of Glen Myra. Located 21 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, the terminal opened as the Municipal Docks and Terminal Company in 1914, eventually pulling much of the maritime activity in Downtown’s wharfs to the Talleyrand area.

Today, this 173-acre terminal handles containerized and breakbulk cargoes, imported automobiles and liquid bulk commodities such as turpentine and molasses. Breakbulk cargoes include steel, lumber and paper, and a variety of frozen and chilled goods. Talleyrand is equipped with four container cranes, on-dock rail, and 160,000 square feet of transit shed space capable of handling cargo in refrigerated, freezer, or ambient conditions. Additionally, a 553,000-square foot warehouse stores a variety of cargoes, including metal products, rolls of fine and specialty papers, magazine papers, and newsprint.

The Belet Millworks building was constructed along the 8th Street streetcar line in 1920.

  • Located along the former Seaboard Air Line Railroad spur to the Wilson & Toomer Fertilizer Company, Liquid Environmental Solutions on East 7th Street is a comprehensive provider of non-hazardous liquid and organic waste collection, transportation, treatment and recycling services.*

The typical Glen Myra residence can be described as a frame bungalow style structure located on a 50’ wide by 100’ deep lot on streets running perpendicular to East 8th Street.
