2. Downtown development blossoms with Curry Administration in charge

After years of talk and disappointment of failed revitalization dreams, downtown is poised for a development boom not seen since the days of the Delaney administration. Tower cranes are back, local colleges and universities are expanding in the Northbank and close to 1,400 residential units could be under construction in the Northbank/Southbank/Brooklyn before the end of the year.

The Curry Administration is also putting its money where its mouth is. Impressive public projects being spearheaded by the city include a $90 million amphitheater/practice facility at EverBank Field, $31 million to revamp the Northbank riverfront and plans to invest $50 million to raze the aging Hart Bridge Expressway viaduct – San Francisco Embarcadero-style.
